What is the ALA?

Conceived in 1997, the Ahana Leadership Academy has provided training, resources, and advice to emerging AHANA leaders. The need to promote high academic standards as well as an acitve social and political conscious has charged ALA with the task of developing a proving ground for freshmen students. During the school year, ALA holds information seminars, retreats, and group dinner, creating a forum for discussions of AHANA issues and methods by which to address them. ALA members are offical members of the AHANA Leadership Council and are placed in various departments. Along with executive staff, department directors and ALC members, ALA members are surrounded with mentors and given oppurtunities to expand on their current and new found leadership skills. ALA is a beginning, not an end, to their leadership capacities.

ALA Programs and Events

The Ahana Leadership Academy, freshmen participate in workshops including those on meeting, planning, officiating, fundraising, and interpersonal professional relationships. In addition to seminars, students their skills to their specific needs to their department. Each ALA member is invited and encouraged to develop and initiate their own program and forum.
